In a celebration of their historic victory, the Women’s T20 World Cup trophy is set for a nine-day tour across New Zealand, beginning this Saturday. The tour comes on the heels of the national team’s first-ever T20 World Cup title, which the New Zealand Women’s team secured with a win over South Africa in Dubai on October 20.

After their triumph, the New Zealand team traveled to India for a three-match ODI series, concluding on Tuesday. They will return home on Friday, ready to engage with fans during the trophy tour, which aims to capitalize on the excitement surrounding their groundbreaking achievement.

The tour will kick off in Dunedin and make stops in ten cities, including Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland. Players and support staff from the women’s team will participate in various public events, interacting with fans at free-entry gatherings. Additionally, they will visit local cricket clubs and schools, emphasizing the importance of grassroots engagement.

Stacey Geraghty, NZC’s marketing communications general manager, expressed enthusiasm about the impact of the World Cup win on women’s cricket in New Zealand. “This victory is a watershed moment for women’s cricket in this country, and we’re determined to make the most of it,” she stated. Geraghty anticipates strong public support akin to that received by the BLACKCAPS during their ICC World Test Championship Mace tour in 2021.

Throughout the home summer, the T20 World Cup trophy will be showcased at all matches featuring the New Zealand women’s team, providing fans with further opportunities to celebrate their national champions.

Following a stunning semi-final victory of the White Ferns over the West Indies, New Zealand showcased an impressive all-round performance, led by standout Amelia Kerr, to clinch the title against South Africa. The upcoming tour promises to be a festive occasion for fans, marking a new era in New Zealand women’s cricket.
