The ICC has unveiled a historic increase in prize money for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to take place in the UAE from October 3 to October 20. The total prize pool has skyrocketed to $7.96 million—more than double the amount from 2023—marking a significant leap forward in the growth of women’s cricket.
In 2024, the tournament winners will receive a whopping $2.34 million, reflecting a 134% increase compared to the $1 million awarded to Australia last year. The runners-up will also benefit from this boost, taking home $1.17 million. Additionally, each semi-finalist will be awarded $675,000, more than three times what they received in 2023.
Group stage winners won’t be left out either, with each team earning $31,154—a 78% increase from last year’s $17,500. Teams that fail to advance past the group stages will still receive a base prize of $112,500, ensuring financial recognition for all participants.
Teams finishing in fifth to eighth place will split $270,000 each, while the ninth and tenth-placed teams will share $135,000. This prize money hike demonstrates the ICC’s commitment to elevating women’s cricket and supporting its players across all levels.
The new record prize pool not only strengthens the Women’s T20 World Cup’s reputation but also highlights the ICC’s ongoing efforts toward achieving gender equality in sports.
