Rabada Reclaims No. 1 Spot in ICC Test Bowling Rankings; Ravindra and Shakeel Enter Top 10

Kagiso Rabada has surged back to the top of the ICC men’s Test bowling rankings following a stellar performance in South Africa’s recent Test Series against Bangladesh. Rabada’s remarkable nine-wicket haul in the first test, which included three wickets in the first innings and six for 46 in the second, propelled him past Jasprit Bumrah, R. Ashwin, and Josh Hazlewood. This achievement also marked him as the fastest bowler to reach 300 Test wickets, a milestone reached during the match held in Mirpur.

The South African pacer’s exceptional display not only led his team to victory—marking their first Test win in Asia since 2014—but also highlighted his dominance in the format. The recent struggles of Bumrah and Ashwin in India’s defeat to New Zealand contributed to their drop in the rankings, with Bumrah now positioned third and Ashwin fourth.

In another notable shift, Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Noman Ali made significant strides in the rankings, jumping nine places to eighth after an impressive performance in Rawalpindi, where he took nine wickets in the match.

On the batting front, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra and Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel have both made their debut in the top ten Test batting rankings. Ravindra, who scored a century and followed it up with a half-century in recent matches, climbed eight spots to tenth. Shakeel, after a brilliant 134 against England, saw a meteoric rise of 20 places to seventh.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, despite a brief dip in form, has reclaimed his position at third among batters, contributing scores of 30 and 77 in Pune. Meanwhile, Mehidy Hasan Miraz showcased his all-round capabilities, scoring a resilient 97 in Bangladesh’s second innings and taking two wickets, which helped him rise to third in the allrounder rankings.
