Wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo has earned his maiden call-up to the West Indies ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Bangladesh, following an impressive run in the domestic Super50 Cup. Alongside Jangoo, allrounder Justin Greaves makes a return to the ODI setup after being left out of the series against England earlier this year.
Both players have been selected based on their stellar performances in the Super50 tournament, which concluded in dramatic fashion late last month. The tournament’s final was forfeited by the two finalists, Barbados Pride and Jamaica Scorpions, after they decided not to turn up for the toss. Despite this, Jangoo and Greaves’ individual performances stood out.
Jangoo, representing Trinidad & Tobago, finished as the highest run-scorer of the tournament with 446 runs from seven innings at an average of 89.20. His tally included three half-centuries and a century. Greaves, who plays for Barbados, was second on the list, amassing 401 runs in just five innings at an extraordinary strike rate of 133.66. His run of form included three consecutive centuries. Greaves also scored his maiden Test century last week in the opening game against Bangladesh, helping West Indies to a commanding 201-run victory.
West Indies head coach Daren Sammy praised both players for their performances, noting that Greaves brings a versatile all-round ability to the squad, which will add depth to the batting lineup. He also highlighted Jangoo’s flexibility and his potential to add a new dimension to the team’s batting.

The squad for the Bangladesh series sees the omission of spinner Hayden Walsh and allrounder Jewel Andrew, who were part of the recent series win over England. However, Andrew will join a group of emerging regional batters who will travel to India for a batting camp at the Chennai Academy, focused on improving techniques for playing in spinning conditions.
“We continue to build towards the main target of the Men’s 50-over World Cup, broadening the pool of players while aiming for short-term goals like winning series, especially at home,” Sammy said. “We want to build on the momentum from our recent victory over England.”
The West Indies squad remains largely unchanged from the England series, with Shai Hope leading the team as captain and Brandon King serving as vice-captain. The batting unit also includes Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, Keacy Carty, and Roston Chase. Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales, and Matthew Forde will form the fast-bowling unit, while Gudakesh Motie will spearhead the spin attack.
