The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has set aside a whopping 12.8 billion PKR to renovate stadiums in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy next year. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi shared the details during a meeting in Faisalabad, confirming that all three stadiums will be ready in time for the major event.
Here’s how the budget is being distributed:
Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore: 7.7 Billion PKR
The majority of the funds—7.7 billion PKR—will go to upgrading Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. This will cover:
– 1,100 million PKR for building a new steel-structured pavilion.
– 3,471 million PKR for a concrete office building.
– 1,250 million PKR for constructing steel enclosures.
– 189 million PKR for a moat.
– 330 million PKR to replace two LED digital screens.
– 523 million PKR for 480 new LED floodlights.
– 375 million PKR for installing new seats.
– 93 million PKR for external development.
National Stadium, Karachi: 3.5 Billion PKR
Karachi’s National Stadium will receive 3.5 billion PKR, including:
– 1,500 million PKR for a steel pavilion structure.
– 580 million PKR to renovate the main building and hospitality boxes.
– 330 million PKR to replace two LED digital screens.
– 490 million PKR for 450 new LED floodlights.
– 340 million PKR for new seats.
Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi: 1.5 Billion PKR
Rawalpindi’s Pindi Stadium will be revamped with a budget of 1.5 billion PKR, which includes:
– 393 million PKR for 350 LED floodlights.
– 400 million PKR for renovations to the main building, hospitality boxes, and restrooms.
– 330 million PKR to replace two LED screens.
– 272 million PKR for seating upgrades.
With this hefty investment, Pakistan is gearing up to host the Champions Trophy in modernized and world-class stadiums.
