Bangladesh may host South Africa for a two-match Test series in October, according to a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official on Friday (September 13). The matches are likely to be held in Dhaka and Chattogram.

The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship, and despite some concerns due to the political situation in Bangladesh, BCB officials are optimistic it will go ahead as planned.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) is expected to discuss the tour with the South African Cricketers’ Association (SACA) before making a final decision. However, there are currently no security worries, and South Africa’s government has not issued any travel warnings against visiting Bangladesh.

The BCB has already prepared a draft schedule. According to it, South Africa’s team will arrive in Bangladesh on October 16. The first Test is set to take place at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka starting October 21, and the second Test will be held at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram starting October 29. The South African team is expected to leave Bangladesh on November 3.

“We are hopeful the series will go on as planned, and we will make an official announcement soon,” a BCB official said.

Recently, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was moved from Bangladesh to the UAE due to political unrest, and New Zealand A’s tour of Bangladesh was also postponed.
