Haryana’s Yashvardhan Dalal etched his name in history with a monumental innings of 428* against Mumbai in the Under-23 CK Nayudu Trophy on Saturday. The opening batter became the first player in the tournament’s history to surpass 400 runs, a landmark previously uncharted in the competition, which has been held since the 1973-74 season.

Dalal’s historic knock came on the third day of the match at the Gurugram Cricket Ground, where Haryana, after winning the toss, opted to bat. His 428* helped propel Haryana to a commanding total of 742/8 before they declared early on the third morning.

The record-breaking innings shattered the previous highest score in the tournament, set by Uttar Pradesh’s Sameer Rizvi, who had scored 312 runs last season. Dalal’s partnership with Arsh Ranga, who scored 151, was a key highlight, as the pair put on a remarkable 410-run stand for the first wicket.

Dalal’s innings included 46 fours and 12 sixes, with the 22-year-old facing 465 balls in his marathon effort. This performance is a testament to his resilience and ability to dominate at the crease, and he has now firmly established himself as one of the brightest talents in the domestic circuit.

With this extraordinary feat, Dalal not only set a new benchmark in the CK Nayudu Trophy but also sent a strong message to selectors, marking himself as a player to watch for the future.
