Bangladesh pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman is unlikely to feature in the upcoming white-ball series against West Indies in December. The fast bowler has requested leave from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to be with his wife, who is expecting a child.
A BCB official confirmed that Mustafizur had applied for leave, but added that a final decision would be made after discussions with the player upon his return from the ongoing ODI series against Afghanistan. The official emphasized that the family matter is a top priority and would be carefully considered before any determination is made.
“Mustafizur has asked for leave during the white-ball series against West Indies, but we are yet to take a final decision. There is still time, and we will discuss it with him once he returns,” the official stated. “It’s a family issue, and we understand its importance.”
Mustafizur is set to return to Dhaka on November 13 after completing Bangladesh’s ODI series against Afghanistan, which concludes on November 11 in Sharjah. The pacer has been away from Test cricket and currently only participates in ODIs and T20Is for Bangladesh.

The West Indies tour will feature two Tests, starting November 22, followed by an ODI series beginning December 8 and a T20I series from December 16. Most members of Bangladesh’s Test squad will depart for the West Indies from Dubai, with others, including Mominul Haque and Taijul Islam, joining the squad shortly.
