Former Bangladesh captain Khaled Mahmud stepped down from his role as Director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday, September 11. A senior official from the Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed this insight.
Mahmud, who first joined the board after defeating Gazi Ashraf Hossain in the 2013 election, was serving his third term as a director. However, political changes in the country, following the resignation of former BCB president Nazmul Hassan, prompted his early departure.
During his tenure, Mahmud made significant contributions as BCB’s game development chairman. Under his guidance, the Bangladesh Under-19 team clinched the ICC Under-19 World Cup title in 2020. He also took on interim roles as head coach and team manager for the Bangladesh national cricket team on several occasions.
Mahmud’s resignation is part of a broader exodus of senior board members, including Jalal Yunus, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury, and Naimur Rahman, who have also stepped down amidst the ongoing board reshuffle.
