Cricket lovers in Nepal and Oman have a lot to be happy about, as both countries have secured their spots at the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The confirmation came even before their Super Six match in Al Amerat on Friday during the Asia-East Asia Pacific (EAP) Qualifier.

The qualification situation was clear after UAE’s 77-run victory over Samoa, which guaranteed both Oman and Nepal would qualify independent of any other results from their remaining matches. The win also gave UAE four points to place them third in the Super Six standings, while Oman and Nepal remained at the top, separated only by net run rate. There will be one more team from the same qualifier to join them at the 2026 T20 World Cup.

UAE now face a must-win match against Japan on October 16, which may determine the final qualifier from Asia-EAP.

Nepal’s Star Performer: Sandeep Lamichhane

Sandeep Lamichhane has helped propel the qualification of Nepal with some remarkable bowling, taking 10 wickets in four matches. He has an average of 9.40 and an economy rate of less than six, which has been crucial to Nepal’s success. He produced an impressive spell of 5 for 18 against Qatar to help dismiss them for 142 while they were chasing.

Oman’s key Bowler: Jiten Ramanand

For Oman, Jiten Ramanandi has been one of the premier bowlers in the tournament, being a left-arm seamer who took seven wickets in four innings at an economy of 5.90. His remarkable form has been carried through from the Asia Cup, where he took the wicket of India’s Abhishek Sharma as well as the well-known Tilak Varma.

The qualification of both teams marks yet another terrific achievement for Associate nations, as they get ready to compete on the world stage at the 2026 T20 World Cup.
