Jos Buttler Guides England to 7-Wicket Win in 2nd T20I and 2-0 Series Lead Against West Indies
England extended their lead in the five-match T20I series against the West Indies to 2-0 with a commanding seven-wicket victory in the second match at Kensington Oval. Jos Buttler starred with an explosive 83 off 45 balls to guide England past West Indies’ total of 158 for 8, completing the chase with more than five overs to spare.
After winning the toss and opting to bowl, England’s bowlers dominated early, reducing the West Indies to 35 for 3 within the first four overs. Saqib Mahmood (2 for 20) and Liam Livingstone (2 for 16) made early inroads, while debutant Dan Mousley impressed with figures of 2 for 29. Rovman Powell provided some resistance, scoring a gritty 43 off 41 balls, but regular wickets from Liam Livingstone (2 for 16) and Mousley kept the hosts on the back foot. The West Indies managed to reach 158 for 8, with contributions down the order from Romario Shepherd and Roveman Powel.
In reply, England lost Phil Salt for a golden duck off the first ball, but Buttler and Will Jacks quickly took control of the chase. Buttler, batting at No. 3, struggled initially but soon came into his own, smashing eight fours and six sixes. His partnership with Jacks (38 off 29) added 129 runs in just 72 balls, with Buttler bringing up his half-century off 32 balls. Despite losing both Buttler and Jacks in quick succession, England had already coasted to 135 for 3 by the 14th over. Livingstone (23* off 11 balls) finished things off in style, hitting a six to seal the win.

West Indies’ hopes of defending a modest total were dashed as England’s depth in batting and bowling proved too much. The win not only gives England a 2-0 series lead but also highlights the growing form of Buttler, who looks set to play a key role in the series decider at Darren Sammy Cricket Ground.
