Following the recent Test matches in Chennai and Galle, notable shifts have occurred in the ICC rankings. Rishabh Pant has made a strong return to Test cricket, climbing to No. 6 in the batting rankings after scoring 39 and 109 runs in India’s 280-run victory over Bangladesh. This marks his comeback after nearly two years away from the sport due to a serious car accident.

Yashasvi Jaiswal also rose in the ranks, moving from sixth to fifth with 751 rating points after a solid 56-run performance in the first innings. Joe Root continues to lead the ICC Test Batting Rankings with 899 points, followed by Kane Williamson at 852. Daryl Mitchell and Steven Smith occupy the third and fourth spots, respectively, with Jaiswal in fifth.

In contrast, Rohit Sharma’s form has seen him drop from No. 5 to No. 10 after disappointing scores of 6 and 5 in Chennai. Virat Kohli also fell five spots to No. 12 after scoring 6 and 17, while Shubman Gill’s 119 not out moved him up to No. 14. Kamindu Mendis made significant strides as well, rising to No. 16 after scoring 114 against New Zealand.

On the bowling side, Prabath Jayasuriya had a standout performance, earning Player-of-the-Match honors with figures of 4 for 136 and 5 for 68. He moved up five spots to No. 8 in the bowling rankings. Indian bowlers dominate this list, with R. Ashwin ranked first, followed by Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Kagiso Rabada. Ravindra Jadeja sits at No. 6, with Nathan Lyon just behind him at No. 7.

In ODI rankings, Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz has made headlines despite a duck in the opening match against South Africa. He bounced back with scores of 110 and 89 in subsequent matches, helping Afghanistan clinch the series 2-1. His performances propelled him up ten spots to eighth, making him the first Afghan player to break into the top ten of the ICC ODI Batting Rankings.
