Pakistan-England Test Series to Kick Off in Multan Twice After Karachi Venue Change

In a recent update, Pakistan’s Test series against England next month has undergone a slight reshuffle. Originally set to take place in Karachi, the second Test has now been moved to Multan, where the series will have back-to-back matches, with the final showdown slated for Rawalpindi.

This three-Test series is part of the ICC World Test Championship. The shift in venues comes due to major renovations at Karachi’s National Stadium ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, and a scheduling conflict in Rawalpindi due to an international conference nearby in Islamabad from October 15-16.

For a brief period, discussions were underway to possibly relocate the series to the UAE, with Abu Dhabi being a potential venue. However, the PCB has confirmed that Multan will now host both the first and second Tests, ensuring the series remains in Pakistan.

England is set to arrive in Multan on October 2, with the opening Test scheduled from October 7-11, followed by the second from October 15-19. The teams will then head to Rawalpindi for the final Test, from October 24-28.

PCB’s International Director, Usman Wahla, expressed excitement about welcoming England back. He emphasized the PCB’s dedication to the fans and promised a fiercely competitive series that would showcase Pakistan’s famous hospitality.

However, the delay in confirming the venues had caused a stir among England’s touring fans, with several operators canceling bookings due to the lack of clear information. England’s head coach, Brendon McCullum, had also highlighted the importance of knowing the conditions early to select the right squad for the tour.

Revised Schedule

– 7-11 Oct: First Test, Multan

– 15-19 Oct: Second Test, Multan

– 24-28 Oct: Third Test, Rawalpindi
