Mohammed Shami’s brilliant bowling performance guided Bengal to a comfortable eight-wicket win over Hyderabad in Group A of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Monday. Shami, playing his first white-ball tournament after last year’s ODI World Cup, took 3 wickets for 21 runs in 3.3 overs, helping Bengal bowl out Hyderabad for just 137 in 18.3 overs. Karan Lal and Shahbaz Ahmed also impressed with the ball, each taking two wickets. Despite a fighting 57 off 44 balls from India batter Tilak Varma, Hyderabad’s total was insufficient.

Bengal’s chase was clinical as openers Abhishek Porel (41) and Karan Lal (46) put together a 84-run partnership in just 9.5 overs. Bengal comfortably crossed the line in 17.5 overs, maintaining steady progress throughout.
