Priyansh Arya, a name that was relatively unknown until recently, has made a sensational entry into the IPL 2025 after securing a lucrative INR 3.8 crore deal with Punjab Kings. This rise to fame follows a series of explosive performances in the inaugural Delhi Premier League (DPL) earlier this year, where Arya emerged as the tournament’s top run-scorer.

Arya’s standout moment came when he hit six sixes in an over during a high-scoring match against North Delhi Strikers. In a game where South Delhi Superstarz posted an imposing 308/5, Arya contributed a blistering 120 off just 50 balls, including the record-breaking over. His destructive batting was not limited to that one instance; the 20-year-old managed 608 runs in 10 innings at an astonishing strike rate of 198.69, including 43 sixes. His consistency and explosive stroke play earned him the reputation of a boundary-hitting machine, particularly down the ground.

The Delhi-born batter’s form didn’t go unnoticed, as he was soon included in the Delhi squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. While his performances there were slightly less dominant, Arya still showed his potential, scoring a rapid 102 off 43 balls against Uttar Pradesh, including ten sixes. Notably, he smashed this century against a bowling attack featuring established stars like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Piyush Chawla.

Arya’s cricketing journey is influenced by strong mentorship, with former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir’s coach, Sanjay Bhardwaj, guiding his development. Arya also shares a close bond with IPL player Ayush Badoni, who has been a source of advice both on and off the field.

As the IPL 2025 auction heated up, Arya was initially introduced at a base price of INR 30 lakh. The bidding quickly escalated, with Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore all vying for his services. Ultimately, it was PBKS who secured his signature, signaling their confidence in the young talent’s ability to make an impact in the upcoming season.
