Eden Gardens in Kolkata will soon honor legendary Indian fast bowler Jhulan Goswami with a stand named in her recognition. The stand, located in the ‘B’ Block, will be inaugurated ahead of the India vs England men’s T20I on January 22, 2024. This tribute comes following a proposal by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to rename the stand after Goswami, who holds the record for the most wickets in women’s international cricket.

Goswami, who retired with 255 wickets in ODIs, 44 in Tests, and 56 in T20Is, expressed her gratitude: “I never imagined something like this would happen. A dedicated stand is a huge, significant honor,” she said, acknowledging the CAB’s commitment to promoting women’s cricket.

The stand at Eden Gardens joins others named in honor of cricketing greats like Sourav Ganguly, Pankaj Roy, and former BCCI presidents Jagmohan Dalmiya and Biswanath Dutt. Goswami’s remarkable contributions to the sport have cemented her legacy as one of cricket’s all-time greats.
