St Georges Park

St. George’s Park Cricket Ground is one of the world’s oldest cricket stadiums. St George’s Park Cricket Ground, located in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), South Africa, was the first cricket stadium to stage a test match outside of England or Australia. In March 1889, the site held its first international game, a test match between England and South Africa. South Africa played its first test match here, and this stadium has witnessed the country’s entire cricketing history, from the pre-World War Era to its readmission to cricket in 1992 after being banned due to a color discrimination policy. The Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) Stadium is also known for its unique band, St. George’s Brass Band, which has been barred from performing within the stadium since the 2003 World Cup.

St George’s Park  Pitch Report

The pitch at St George’s Park Cricket Ground in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) has a reputation for favoring pacers. Fast bowlers benefit from the surface’s longer grass, which aids seam and swing. The pitch at this venue features a considerable amount of bounce, which aids fast bowlers; yet, this bounce also allows batters to play their shots as the ball gets old. Spinners have minimal significance at St George’s Park Cricket Ground.
