Rishabh Pant’s lively presence on the field never fails to entertain, and his latest cheeky remark during India’s Test series against Bangladesh had legendary cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Dinesh Karthik rolling with laughter.
Pant, known for his match-winning abilities in red-ball cricket, was at his chirpy best in the second Test at Kanpur. Coming off a century in the first Test in Chennai, Pant’s wicketkeeping antics took center stage once again as he continued to provide comic relief behind the stumps.
During the 33rd over, while Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling to Bangladesh’s Mominul Haque, a delivery unexpectedly rose and struck the batter’s helmet. Seeing an opportunity for some fun, Pant quipped to the close-in fielders that they might even get an LBW if the ball hit Mominul’s helmet — a cheeky reference to the batter’s shorter height.
This playful comment left commentator Sunil Gavaskar in fits of laughter. Explaining Pant’s joke to the viewers, Gavaskar said, “Pant’s humor here is all about Mominul’s height. He’s suggesting an LBW off the helmet. Only Rishabh Pant can come up with something like that.” Dinesh Karthik, also in the commentary box, couldn’t hold back his laughter either, adding to the light-hearted atmosphere.
Known for his quick wit and unfiltered banter, Pant’s sledge is just another example of his unique style, adding a fun dimension to India’s fielding efforts while keeping the opposition on edge.
