The Rangpur Riders have officially announced the appointment of Mickey Arthur as their head coach for the upcoming Global Super League (GSL) and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) seasons. The seasoned cricket coach, aged 56, will take the helm starting November 26, when the GSL kicks off.

Arthur, who has an extensive coaching background, including tenures with South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, most recently led the Dambulla Aura in the Lanka Premier League. He is also the director of cricket at Derbyshire. His wealth of experience is expected to be a significant asset for the Riders as they aim for success in both tournaments this season.

Shanian Taneem, the team director of Rangpur Riders, expressed enthusiasm about the new signing. “We have signed Mickey Arthur for the GSL and BPL this year. It is a one-year deal. The collaboration between Arthur and the Riders has been in the works for the past week, with a focus on building a competitive squad for the upcoming tournaments. “He is very active, always gladly helping us,” Taneem added, highlighting Arthur’s proactive approach.

Arthur’s coaching style is expected to align well with the team’s culture. “I think he is perfect for Rangpur Riders’ culture. He is a very friendly guy and will be of great benefit for the Bangladeshi cricketers in particular,” Taneem remarked, underlining Arthur’s potential to enhance the skills of local players through his extensive experience.

As the GSL approaches, all eyes will be on Arthur and the Rangpur Riders, with hopes high for a successful campaign under their new leadership.
