England’s white-ball cricket team will welcome back their regular captain, Jos Buttler, for the upcoming tour of the West Indies. Buttler, who missed the recent series against Australia due to a calf injury, is set to lead his team in three T20Is and five One-Day Internationals in the Caribbean Islands later this month.
The England squad for the West Indies tour includes several key players, with Buttler returning to captaincy. Other players in the squad are Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Adil Rashid, and Reece Topley. Additionally, England has called up three uncapped players for this tour.
These are 22-year-old leg-spinner Jafer Chohan, who will be making his debut, and two young players, John Turner and Dan Mousley, who were also part of the squad in the recently concluded series against Australia.
Chohan’s selection is a significant milestone as he becomes the first player to graduate from the South Asian Cricket Academy to be called up to the England senior team. This highlights the growing diversity in English cricket.
The tour will begin with three ODIs, starting on October 31 in Antigua, followed by the second ODI on November 2. The third and final ODI will take place in Barbados on November 6. The team will then play five T20I matches, with games scheduled between November 9 and November 17.
England have named an initial squad of 14 players for the tour, but two more players will be added from the Test squad after their series in Pakistan finishes. This includes Harry Brook, who captained England during the Australia series in Buttler’s absence.
With Buttler back in charge, England will be looking to bounce back and perform strongly in the Caribbean, where they will face a challenging West Indies side.
