In a landmark move, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a fixed match fee for all players participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from the 2025 season onwards. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah took to X (formerly Twitter) to break the news, revealing that players in the starting XI and impact substitutes will now earn ₹7.5 lakh per game.
This new payment structure offers players an additional ₹1.05 crore if they play all 14 league matches, on top of their regular contracted salaries.
Celebrating consistency and outstanding performances, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of ₹7.5 lakh per game for our IPL cricketers. A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will receive ₹1.05 crore in addition to his contracted amount, Shah stated in his post.
Franchises will allocate ₹12.60 crore per season as match fees, signaling a new era of rewards in the IPL. Notably, this per-match fee represents a 78% increase over the earnings for a First-Class game, solidifying the IPL as one of the most lucrative cricket leagues globally.
