India’s Hardik Pandya has reclaimed the top spot in the ICC T20I allrounder rankings, while young star Tilak Varma has made a sensational rise, reaching No. 3 among batters following his remarkable performances against South Africa.
Pandya’s return to No. 1 comes after a series of standout performances in India’s T20I series against South Africa. His contributions with both bat and ball, including a match-winning spell of 1 for 8 in the fourth T20I in Johannesburg, helped him overtake England’s Liam Livingstone and Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee. This marks his second stint at the top of the rankings, having previously held the position after India’s T20 World Cup victory earlier this year.
Tilak Varma’s meteoric rise is equally impressive. The 21-year-old scored back-to-back unbeaten centuries in the series, catapulting him 69 places to No. 3 among T20I batters. His consistency, coupled with strong performances in the opening matches, earned him the Player of the Series award. He now trails only Travis Head and Phil Salt in the rankings, with his captain Suryakumar Yadav closely behind.
Arshdeep Singh, another standout performer, climbed to No. 9 in the T20I bowler rankings after taking eight wickets in the series, including two crucial three-wicket hauls.
Meanwhile, Australia’s Adam Zampa surged to No. 3 in the bowler rankings after his excellent performance against Pakistan, and Nathan Ellis made a significant jump to No. 11.
In other notable rankings movements, Kusal Mendis rose to No. 12 after his consistent performances for Sri Lanka, and Maheesh Theekshana’s strong showing in ODIs saw him move up to No. 6 in the bowler rankings.
The latest ICC rankings reflect the standout individual performances in the recent T20I series, highlighting the rise of several emerging players in world cricket.
