A historic one-off Test between Australia and England will be held from March 11 to 15, 2027, to celebrate 150 years of Test cricket. The match, scheduled at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), will commemorate the milestone in the birthplace of Test cricket, where both the inaugural Test in 1877 and the Centenary Test in 1977 were also played.

The 2027 Test is expected to mirror the Centenary Test, which Australia won by 45 runs, a victory that matched the margin of their win in the very first Test, 150 years earlier. Cricket Australia (CA) announced the fixture earlier this year, and it will be a significant event in the cricketing calendar.

The match will coincide with the early days of the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL), which is set to begin on March 14, 2027. According to an IPL email to franchises, players from Australia and England will join their respective IPL teams after the historic Test. The overlap of the two events highlights the global reach and importance of both formats of the game.
