New franchise The Gujarat Titans (GT) emerged as a new entity in the Indian Premier League, beginning from the season 2022. The Ahmedabad-based franchise came into existence after the global private equity firm CVC Capital Partners, through its company Irelia Company Pte Ltd acquired the tender to own a franchise with a bid of INR 5,625 crore in IPL 2021 Franchise auction. The franchise was officially named Gujarat Titans shortly before the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Historic Start for Gujarat Titans

Led by the now suspended Hardik Pandya, Gujarat Titans had possibly pulled off one of the most astounding inaugural seasons in IPL. GT won the IPL final of 2022 in front of capacity home crowds at the Narendra Modi Stadium (formerly named Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium), Ahmedabad. The franchise has grown to become one of the powerhouses in the league and is led by Shubman Gill.
