Bangladesh has named a 16-player squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against India, scheduled for later this month. The only change to the squad that recently defeated Pakistan 2-0 is the inclusion of wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali Anik. He replaces fast bowler Shariful Islam, who is recovering from a groin injury sustained during the first Test against Pakistan.
Jaker Ali Anik, 26, has not played a Test match yet but has been called up after scoring a century for Bangladesh A against Pakistan A. He has experience in T20 cricket, having represented Bangladesh in 17 T20Is, including four matches in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
India currently tops the ICC World Test Championship standings, while Bangladesh is in fourth place after their recent victory over Pakistan.
The two-match series will begin in Chennai on September 19 and end in Kanpur on October 1.
